9 Tips to keep good oral health
Drink fluoridated water and brush your teeth with fluoridated toothpaste.
Practice good oral hygiene. Brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day and floss to remove plaque.
See your dentist at least once a year, even if you don’t have natural teeth or have dentures.
Do not use any tobacco products. If you smoke, quit smoking.
Limit alcoholic beverages.
If you have diabetes, try to manage it. This will reduce the risk of other complications, including gum disease. Treating gum disease may help lower blood sugar levels.
If your medication is causing dry mouth, ask your doctor for a different medication that may not cause this. If dry mouth cannot be avoided, drink plenty of water, chew sugar-free gum, and avoid tobacco products and alcohol.
If you experience sudden changes in your sense of taste and smell, see your doctor or dentist.
